Description

Bloodred bittersweet roses,
Thorns as sharp as thy sword,
Heavenly Prince will you kiss me,
to go back upon your bespoken word?

This picture is a true definition of the fairtale it's based upon. The simplicty of it is a pleasant change of pace from your usual energetic pieces, and it fits the theme perfectly. The red trails down from the eye seem to symbolise the coma Aurora was put in, though the event was softened in the film. That alone is effective as it demonstratres the darker tones of the story.
The thorns on the eyebrow seem to be growing out of your skin, as you have used a tone similar to your skin colour, which adds another grim mood to the image, showing the evil piercing through Aurora's life, and emotionally deforming the person she was, though this is demonstrated physically.
The flower, of course, is a wonderous effect that symbolises Aurora's beauty and the way the flora encased her while she slept.
The green contacts add to the recurring theme of nature within this image and I believe it was a simple and yet marvellous technique.
Now, the lighting. You have used the lighting to your advantage and have dramtically edited the picture for the better. The darkness around the eye demonstrates the idea of the rest of the world being blacked out, to symbolise her long sleep, while the soft lighting on your cheekbone and forehead symbolises the way out drawing near, an effective metaphor for the arrival of the Prince.
And to add to effect you've even displayed the theme of sleep by simply closing your eye slightly.
Overall, a beautiful image and weell thought out.
Congratulations.
